This year has shaped up to be a very good, not least because it seems Holloway is shuffling, at last, towards gentrification. I long for nothing more than one or two venues near enough to my flat that I can ask friends to come to me, rather than sleepily hauling my bike down the stairs every time I want to go for brunch. And this year, Holloway got its first hipster coffee shop.
And it is everything we hoped it would be. Trendy but friendly, good but cheap. It has a dear little garden and wooden tables inside that aren’t awkward to share with strangers. Friendly people bring your silky, rich coffee and enormous, warm sandwich to whichever corner you’ve tucked yourself into. They are a venue for supper clubs from local food sage James Ramsden. Hello to you, Vagabond N7! Delighted to finally meet you.
