These guys opened (after considerable success and blogger acclaim in their van incarnation) at the height of London’s burger obsession. Or at least the height of mine. And despite the fact that they were probably my third burger the week I visited, and my third thousandth cheeseburger of all time, they absolutely nailed it; their Smokey Robinson burger is a thing of delicious, indulgent glory. Juicy, meaty burger; sticky caramelised onions; savoury, melty cheese and perfectly fresh, soft brioche bun. Chips and coleslaw weren’t anything to write home (or blogs) about, so I’ll skip them next time to save space for a choc ice.
What they didn’t nail, though, was customer comfort. The place had a lovely buzz about it and I could cope with being packed in considering how tiny it is, but loud music and high fivey service at 6.20pm on a weekday makes a Londoner who’s come straight from the office feel a touch uncomfortable. But it would have been welcome a hour/a beer or two later, and there’s no way it would stop me going back.
