No Oxford Street noodles for you, I’m afraid; this branch has now closed.
Bright red and yellow plastic neon fronting is not the sort of décor that draws me into a restaurant, I have to say, but while they may look like their food wouldn’t rival Camden Market’s MSG-laced foil containers, you’ll get a better meal than a lot of places in Chinatown dish up at Noodle Oodle. For just £7.50 (less at lunch) they’ll serve you a huge bowl of freshly hand-pulled noodles in broth with roast duck on top. This is not a bowl of life-changing flavours, but it’s big, filling, cheap and tasty. There was loads of duck even after I’d been a wimp and pulled most of its fat off, and the thick, firm noodles are beautifully cooked and satisfyingly slurpable. A hearty lunch option away from the queues of Soho and greasy buffets of Leicester Square.
