I am very sad to have to tell you that Damson is now closed.
Damson is the sort of café that’s what your mum’s kitchen would be like if it was on trend. Despite its big windows, bare wooden chairs and white walls it’s a cosy wee place that serves comforting lunch options with an unusually large dollop of charm. Unusual for central London, in particular.
Generous plates of interesting salads and hearty soups and stews with fresh bread both come in around the £7 mark, while freshly made sandwiches in various seeded baguettes and rolls are more like £4. The coffee is great, the cakes are tempting, and the staff practically talk you into table service, even though there’s no extra charge. Just right.
