The Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak

Roast pork roll, southampton arms, kentish town, gospel oak
The Southampton Arms is the best pub in London. But even if you aren’t the least bit interested in their vast selection of well-kept ales and punchy ciders, you should pay the homely little place a visit, for their roast pork roll is a thing of utter glory. The soft, fresh potato bread roll, so crisp on the outside and yet so unthreatening to the roof of the mouth. The tangy, gently sweet layer of apple sauce. The juicy, chunky roast pork slices. The little curl of crackling on the side. It has likely saved me from numerous hangovers, and is big enough that it can replace a meal, yet still just small enough that you can also justify eating it between meals. There is not a thing I would change about this sandwich. And it even costs less than five English pounds.
