American BBQ food may be an off-putting gastro-fad, but don’t let it turn you away from Pitt Cue. They were the first and they’re still the best. Their pulled pork is smoky, soft and generous, their buns are a little sweet and crisp in only the right places, the pickles pack just the right amount of crunch and punch, and the sides (the mash and gravy in particular) are all brilliant.

The only sad part is that their gaff is so small that even at 6.30pm on a weekday the queue’s about an hour strong, so while it’s worth waiting for, you do need a bit of determination. But in my experience they have no other faults; food, drinks list and staff are all exemplary. Buy yourself a can of G&T for the wait and get down there.
