Hoxton Street Market, Shoreditch

Pomp de France cakes, Hoxton Street market

When there’s no market on Hoxton Street it’s not much to look at. There are a few good pubs, and the excellent Hoxton Street Monster Supplies, and a wide, bleak street. Come Saturdays, though, it bustles with fried food, sweet treats, gifts and friendly faces ready to tempt you into trying yet another taster, despite the fact that you’ve just eaten lunch.

Have a wander, give in to the snack that you just can’t say no to and settle in Hoxton White Horse for a pint while you eat (they won’t mind, we checked). The thing that crumbled our resistance wasn’t actually from a market stall, but Embassy East’s maple and bacon cupcake is a pretty darn good draw to this more wholesome of Shoreditch stretches.
